Commonwealth Games: a showcase of cycling

The Commonwealth Games are officially underway and already England are sporting a medal as Alex Yee wins the first Gold of the games. Yee completed his triathlon in 50mins and 34seconds to beat New Zealander Hayden Wilde by 13 seconds. Huge Congratulations, and what a way to kick the games off!

The Commonwealth Games are being held in the wonderful city of Birmingham, a place we’ve become particularly familiar over the last couple of months as we have just recently opened a havebike collect and return servicing hub there! So if you live in Birmingham, you too can now enjoy a havebike service – we’d love to see you.

While there are lots of sports to watch, we’ll of course we keeping a close eye on the cycling events.

Commonwealth games cycling schedule

Friday 29th – Monday 1st August

Track and Para Track. Based at the Lee Valley Velopark at the Olympic Park in London. From pursuits to sprints and tandems to keirins the track races are always exciting to watch.

Wednesday 3rd August

Cross-country mountain biking. Taking place at the newly opened Cannock Chase Forest facility which looks like a fantastic venue. We’ll no-doubt be heading over there to check it out soon.

Thursday 4th August

Road time trail. At Wolverhampton’s historic West Park. In an unspoilt victorian parkland, and one of the finest parks in the country, it’s sure to be a great place to visit and watch.

Sunday 7th August

Road Race. Taking place at Myton Fields in Warwickshire running to the edge of Royal Leamington Spa’s Victoria Park. A wonderful venue to watch the penultimate day’s Commonwealth games action.
