If you aren’t a fan of the standard beach holiday, and can’t stand going back to Spain for the seventh time, Les Portes du Soleil is the answer to your holiday prayers. Also known as ‘The Door of the Sun’, Les Portes du Soleil is great for bike lovers, with four international renowned bike parks in the French-Swiss territory. The four parks include Châtel, Les Gets, Morzine and Campéry-Morgins. Read below for more information on each park and see what takes your fancy.
- Châtel Mountain Bike Park – Châtel boasts 20 DH tracks with a variety of scenery. The bike park has a pressure wash station, and nine bike patrol specialists to check each track’s safety. There is a drop zone and 2 pump tracks.
- Les Gets Bike Park – This is one of the most popular parks in Les Portes de Soleil and has been around for almost 2 decades. With 18 tracks including DH and all-mountain routes, and even a free ride slope, Les Gets is perfect for beginner or expert riders. If you are going as a family, it has a ids zone and a coaching track. With bike instructors and 8 bike patrol staffs, there are a lot of opportunity to learn more about mountain biking.
- Morzine Bike Park – If you are looking for a track that is more on the difficult side, this is the ideal place to mountain bike. With either of the side of the village designated for more experienced riders and the other for beginners. It’s also been said that you may sport a famous rider here!
- Bike Park Champéry-Morgins – With 4 resorts, this park again is suitable for all riders. This is a park for people who want to mix riding with touring the area. Also, there is an impression World Cup DH track for people to visit and ride.
Speaking of mountain biking, Pass’Portes du Soleil is an MTB ride in Switzerland and France. It is the 16th year, and is being held on the 28th, 29th and 30th June! The 80km track is 1000 to 2250m in altitude and is perfect for scoping out the scenery and exploring the terrain. It is the best place for mountain bikers to ride free amongst bike friends and different variations are created for different abilities.
